Semi-Permanent Hair Extensions 24/7

Removable wigs, partials and extensions

Human Hair

The proper care of your hair unit will keep it looking like new. Most people prefer to have more than one hair unit, not only to alternate hairstyles, but also to allow time for cleaning and drying them one at a time. To take care of your unit, follow these simple instructions…
  1. Before washing, gently brush out all the tangles and hairspray residue. For hair which has a curl, begin by running your fingers through the hair to gently remove tangles and then proceed to using the brush.
  2. In a sink or basin, mix two or three bottle caps full of shampoo with warm water and immerse the unit. Gently turn it over a few times and let it soak for about five (5) minutes (you can add a tablespoon of “cow brand” baking soda to the water to help remove excess hairspray). Gently run your fingers through the hair while making sure to keep all of the hair running in the same direction i.e.: front to back (top to bottom for extensions).
  3. Empty sink/basin. Gently rinse the unit under the tap until all the shampoo is removed (run the water from the inside-out).
  4. Re-fill sink/basin with fresh warm water. Re-immerse wig/partial /extension and apply three or four bottle caps full of conditioner. Allow the hair to absorb the conditioner for a few minutes. Gently run your fingers or a wide bristled brush through the hair while the conditioner is still in to facilitate detangling.
  5. Rinse out all of the conditioner, wrap the hair in a towel, and gently pat out excess water. No scrubbing!
  6. Lightly shake out the wig or partial and place it on a stand or a Styrofoam head. Gently brush out starting at the bottom and working your way upward. Style as usual (setting women’s hair units with rollers may be useful) Remember to avoid excessive heat on the base of the unit.
  7. For additional shine and body, you can use shine-spray and/or a light hairspray to hold style.
  8. Note: You can wear your unit 5 to 10 times between washes.
  9. Avoid at all cost:  coloring, perming or bleaching. Alternative techniques are available. Ask your technician before proceeding with any chemical processing.
  10. Suggestion: To avoid tangles, make sure not to forget to keep all the hair flowing in the same direction while washing your prosthesis.

Synthetic hair

  1. Before washing, gently brush out all the tangles and hairspray residue. For hair units that have a curl, do not use a brush; just run your fingers thoroughly through the hair to gently remove tangles.
  2. In a sink or basin, mix two bottle caps full of shampoo into cool water and submerge the hair unit. Gently turn it over a few times and let it soak for about five minutes. If there is an accumulation of hair spray residue, simply add a full tablespoon of baking soda (Cow Brand) to the water.
  3. Empty sink/basin. Gently rinse the unit in cool water under the tap until all the shampoo is removed. Make sure to rinse from the inside-out.
  4. Re-fill sink/basin with fresh cool water then apply two or three bottle caps full of conditioner. Allow the fibers to absorb the conditioner for a few minutes.
  5. Rinse out all of the conditioner in cool water. Wrap the hair unit in a towel and gently pat out excess water. No scrubbing!
  6. Lightly shake out the hair unit and place it on a stand or a Styrofoam head. Brush it out lightly making sure not to pull on the hair or simply use your fingers instead to put the hair into place. When it’s completely dry, proceed to styling with a regular hairbrush or afro comb to restore styling. Setting with rollers may be useful. Be sure to not to use any steam or heat. For additional shine and body, you can use shine-spray and/or a light hairspray to hold the style.
  7. Note: You can wear your unit 10-12 times between washes.
  8. Important: To prevent fiber damage, do not use a hair dryer, curling iron or any other source of heat on the hair unit. Also, remember to keep it away from the heat of the stove, oven, barbecues and cigarette lighters.

Semi-permanent partials

Human hair

The proper care of your hair will keep it looking like new.To take care of your partial, follow these simple instructions…
  1. Before washing, gently brush out all the tangles and hairspray residue. For partials that have a curl, begin by running your fingers through the hair to gently remove tangles and then proceed to brush.
  2. In the shower, gently lather shampoo into your own hair, then run the suds throughout the partial. Lightly massage your scalp around edges of the partial. To avoid excessive tangling; do not submerge your head forward into a sink to wash your hair.
  3. Gently rinse until all the shampoo is removed. Then apply two or three bottle caps full of conditioner. Allow the hair to absorb the conditioner for a few minutes. Gently run your fingers or a wide toothed brush through the hair while the conditioner is still in to detangle.
  4. Rinse out all of the conditioner. Wrap your hair in a towel and gently pat out excess water.
  5. Gently brush out starting at the bottom and working your way upward. To avoid stress on your own hair, be sure to hold on to the hair as you detangle. As you get closer to the scalp; hold the base of the partial as you comb it out.
  6. Style as usual. Setting with rollers may be useful. Remember to treat and re-hydrate your new hair. Ask your technician what products may be used.
  7. For additional shine and body you can use shine-spray and/or a light hairspray to hold the style.
  8. Note: Your hair should be washed at least twice in a ten-day period.
  9. Do not: Perm, tint or bleach the partial. Ask your technician about what alternative techniques may be used on your new hair.
  10. Suggestion: For women, another way to avoid tangling is to braid your hair before shampooing, swimming or going to sleep.

Synthetic hair

Hair care for synthetic units worn 24/7 is the same as above with the exception that sources of heat such as hot water, hair dryers and curling irons may not be used.
